𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – 𝐚 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐫𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 – 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐒 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 2001, and during that time, water use on the river has outstripped supply by 33.6 million acre-feet. That’s bad news for the Southwest, home to some of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
